Mark Marone, Owner
A 35-year resident of Pinellas County, Mark left a career in consulting and market research to pursue his dream of owning a restaurant in early 2005, when he took over the existing Pepper Mill Restaurant. As he learned the business, talked to customers and watched trends in the restaurant industry, Mark became convinced that it was time for a significant change and began plans for the transformation to the Belleair Grill and Wine Bar.
After growing up in Saint Petersburg, Mark completed his Bachelor degree, as well as his Masters at the University of South Florida. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Political Science at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he met his wife, Alicia, whom he married in 2002.
Mark and Alicia travel frequently and it was those travels that inspired the concept for the Belleair Grill and Wine Bar. Their favorite travel destination is Italy, where they spend many hours scouting local enotecas (wine bars) and enjoying local cuisine from each region. To date, they are halfway to their goal of visiting all 20 regions in Italy.
